Can any student at California University of PA live off-campus?
Cal U has a four-semester on-campus residency requirement. This means freshman and sophomore students that don’t live within commuting distance of the university must first live in university-sponsored housing. Once this on-campus living requirement is satisfied, all students can look for off-campus housing near Cal U.
When should students begin looking for Cal U off campus housing?
If you need a place for the upcoming academic year, it’s advised you start looking for off campus student housing no later than January. Select a few off-campus rentals near Cal U that interest you and start setting up appointments to meet landlords and view properties.
DO NOT sign any lease until you physically walk through the property and talk to the landlord. Only then can you truly assess whether or not the place you’ve looked at suits your needs and budget. How do I setup utilities at my Cal U off campus apartment?

When setting up utilities in your name for the first time, you’ll need to contact each utility company separately and provide them with your date of birth, social security number, current and new address, and your requested first date of service. Keep in mind that any first-time installation of new services typically requires 5 business days.

How is Public Transportation for Off-Campus Cal U Students?
